Stylo Curiae E.P.Defryme's first release "Stylo Curiae" got plenty of radio support from JJJ in Melbourne and Sydney, due to its indie feel. The band was very fortunate to have excellent reviews that praised the E.P. in the Melbourne street magazines Beat and Inpress, which led to greater live show audience attendance, and a generally higher profile for Defryme. |

Continued praise from Inpress and Beat, added to by the mainstream Rolling Stone magazine and Interstate street magazines, helped push Defryme's debut album to #3 with a bullet on the ARIA National Chart.

Purekiller (single)The first release from the album of the same name, Purekiller undoubtedly carried the worst and most lack-lustre cover of any Defryme release. The band feel that there must have been an in-joke going on at BMG that they were not privy to. Still, it was a very strong song and statement, and Defryme fans responded to it. |

Mama Said Knock You Out (single)Defryme's second single from Purekiller is a cover of an LL Cool J song. The band are not particularly happy that the record company releases this song as a single, but can't argue with the logic. The song is a moderate hit, that actually charted higher than the original in this country, and live gig attendance goes through the roof. |

Sanity (single)The third release from Purekiller completely crossed over and was played on JJJ, RRR, MMM and Fox, which at the time was unheard. The band's profile became very prominent and it seemed nothing could stop the Defryme juggernaut. |
